NOTICE OF ABSENTEE AND EARLY VOTING
Federal and State Republican and Democratic party Primary, Rhea County General, and Spring City Municipal Elections
August 1, 2024
Notice is hereby given that the early voting period for the August 1, 2024, Federal and State Republican and Democratic party Primary, Rhea County General, and Spring City Municipal Elections will be Friday, July 12 to Saturday, July 27, 2024. Any registered voter of Rhea County may vote in person during this time at the Rhea County Election Commission office, 1475 Market Street, Suite 102, Dayton, TN. Voting hours will be Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 NOON.
In addition, early voting will be conducted at the Spring City Municipal Building, 229 Front Street, Spring City, TN, Monday, July 15 through Saturday, July 20, 2024. Voting hours will be Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 NOON.
The last day to register to vote in the August 1, 2024, election is Tuesday, July 2, 2024.
PROCEDURES FOR VOTING ABSENTEE BY MAIL
A registered voter who wishes to vote absentee by mail for the August 1, 2024, Federal and State Republican and Democratic Party Primary, Rhea County General, and Spring City Municipal Elections, and meets the qualifications, may obtain an application at the Rhea County Election Commission Office. The application may be returned to the Election Commission Office in person, by fax, by e-mail with scanned signature, or U.S. Mail. To inquire about the qualifications, contact the Rhea County Election Commission at 423-775-7816 or e-mail rhea.commission@tn.gov.
The first day for the Election Commission office to receive a request for absentee ballot for the August 1, 2024, Federal and State Republican and Democratic Party Primary, Rhea County General, and Spring City Municipal Elections was May 3, 2024, and the last day to receive a request is Thursday, July 25, 2024.
- The absentee application must be completed in full and returned no later than July 25, 2024, to the Rhea County Election Commission Office to be properly processed.
- The voter’s absentee ballot must be received by mail no later than 8:00 P.M. on August 1, 2024, at the Rhea County Election Commission Office to be eligible to be counted.
The voter’s request can serve as the application for ballot if it contains the following information:
- Voter’s name
- Residential address
- Social Security number
- Date of birth
- Address where the ballot should be mailed
- The reason for voting by absentee ballot
- The voter’s signature
- The election the voter wishes to vote in (including party preference if a primary election)
If the request does not contain all the information listed above, the election commission shall send the voter an application for an absentee ballot to obtain the required information.
