NOTICE OF ABSENTEE AND EARLY VOTING
for the November 3, 2020, Federal and State General and Graysville Municipal Elections and Spring City Package Liquor Referendum

Notice is hereby given that the early voting period for the November 3, 2020, Federal and State General and Graysville Municipal Elections and Spring City Package Liquor Referendum will be Wednesday, October 14 through Thursday, October 29, 2020 (T.C.A. 2-6-102 (a) (1)). Any registered voter of Rhea County may vote in person during this time at the Rhea County Election Commission office, 125 Court Street, Suite 1, Dayton, TN, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 8:30 and 6 p.m. Friday; and 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 Noon on Saturdays.

In addition, early voting will be conducted at the Spring City Municipal Building, 229 Front Street, Spring City, TN, October 19 through 24, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 8:30 and 6 p.m. Friday; and 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 Noon on Saturday.

The last day to register to vote in the November 3, 2020, election is Monday, October 5, 2020. (T.C.A. 2-2-109)

PROCEDURES FOR VOTING ABSENTEE BY MAIL (T.C.A. 2-6-201)

A person who wishes to vote absentee by mail for the November 3, 2020, Federal and State General and Graysville Municipal Elections and Spring City Package Liquor Referendum and meets the qualifications may obtain an application in person at the Rhea County Election Commission Office, by fax (423-775-7880), by e-mail with scanned signature, or U.S. Mail.  To inquire about the qualifications, contact the Rhea County Election Commission at 423-775-7816 or e-mail rhea.commission@tn.gov.

  • The absentee application must be completed in full and returned no later than October 27, 2020, to the Rhea County Election Commission Office to be properly processed.
  • The voter’s absentee ballot must be received by mail no later than 8 P.M. on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, at the Rhea County Election Commission Office to be eligible to be counted.

The first day for the Election Commission office to receive a request for absentee ballot for the November 3, 2020, Federal and State General and Graysville Municipal Elections was August 5, 2020, and the last day to receive a request is Tuesday, October 27, 2020.

The voter’s request can serve as the application for ballot if it contains the following information:

Voter’s name, residential address, Social Security number, date of birth, address where the ballot should be mailed, the election the voter wishes to vote in (including party preference if a primary election), the reason for voting by absentee ballot, and the voter’s signature.

If the request does not contain all the information listed above, the election commission shall send the voter an application for an absentee ballot to obtain the required information.
