NOTICE OF ABSENTEE AND EARLY VOTING
for the March 17, 2021, Special Dayton Municipal Election

Notice is hereby given that the early voting period for the March 17, 2021, Special Dayton Municipal Election will be Thursday, February 25 through Friday, March 12, 2021 (T.C.A. 2-6-102 (a) (1)). Any registered voter of the City of Dayton may vote in person during this time at the Rhea County Election Commission office, 125 Court Street, Suite 1, Dayton, TN, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9:00 a.m. and noon on Saturdays.

The last day to register to vote in the March 17, 2021, election is Tuesday, February 16, 2021 (T.C.A. 2-2-109).

NOTICE TO DAYTON PROPERTY RIGHTS VOTERS

Non-residents who own property in the City of Dayton and wish to vote in the March 17, 2021, Special Dayton Municipal Election must vote in that election by absentee ballot, pursuant to an ordinance adopted by the Dayton City Council. Registered property rights voters have been notified by mail. To register as a property rights voter, the property owner must submit a voter registration application not later than Tuesday, February 16, 2021, and show evidence of their ownership of real property in Dayton. PROCEDURES FOR VOTING ABSENTEE BY MAIL (T.C.A. 2-6-201)

A person who wishes to vote absentee by mail for the March 17, 2021, Special Dayton Municipal Election and meets the qualifications may obtain an application in person at the Rhea County Election Commission Office, by fax (423-775-7880), by email with scanned signature, or U.S. Mail. • The absentee application must be completed in full and returned no later than
March 10, 2021, to the Rhea County Election Commission Office to be properly processed.
• The voter’s absentee ballot must be received by mail no later than 8 P.M. on
March 17, 2021, at the Rhea County Election Commission Office to be eligible to be counted.

The voter’s request can serve as the application for ballot if it contains the following information:

Voter’s name, residential address, Social Security number, date of birth, address where the ballot should be mailed, the election the voter wishes to vote in, the reason for voting by absentee ballot, and the voter’s signature.

If the request does not contain all the information listed above, the election commission shall send the voter an application for an absentee ballot to obtain the required information.

PHOTO ID REQUIREMENT FOR ALL VOTERS

Tennessee state law requires all voters voting in person to present a federal or a State of Tennessee-issued photo identification containing the voter’s name and photograph.
