Federal and State Republican and Democratic Party Primary, Rhea County General, and Spring City Municipal Elections

To the voters of Rhea County, TN, notice is hereby given pursuant to TCA 2-12-111 (a), that Federal and State Republican and Democratic Party Primary, Rhea County General, and Spring City Municipal Elections will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2018, in all voting precincts in Rhea County, TN.

FEDERAL AND STATE REPUBLICAN PARTY AND DEMOCRATIC PARTY PRIMARY ELECTIONS

Federal and State Republican and Democratic Party voters will choose their candidates for United States Senate, (six-year term, 2019-2025); United States House of Representatives, Fourth District, (two-year term, 2019-2021); Governor, (four-year term, 2019-2023); Tennessee House of Representatives, 31^st District, (two-year term, 2019-2021); and State Executive Committee (four-year term, 2019-2023) in their respective primary elections.

RHEA COUNTY GENERAL ELECTION

Rhea County voters will fill the following positions: County Executive, (four-year term, 2018-2022); County Commission, all districts, (four-year term, 2018-2022); Trustee, (four-year term, 2018-2022); Sheriff, (four-year term, 2018-2022); Circuit Court Clerk, ((four-year term, 2018-2022); County Clerk; (four-year term, 2018-2022); Register, (four-year term, 2018-2022); and School Board Districts 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, (four-year term, 2018-2022).

SPRING CITY MUNICIPAL ELECTION

Voters eligible to vote in the Spring City Municipal Election will fill two four-year terms (2018-2022) and one unexpired (two-year, 2018-2020) term on the Spring City Commission. Per resolution of the Spring City Commission, Resolution 2018-02, dated February 1, 2018, candidates with the highest and second-highest number of votes will be elected for four-year terms, and the candidate with the third-highest number of votes will be elected for a two-year term.

Individuals interested in running for these offices may pick up qualifying petitions at the Election Commission office during normal business hours.
Qualifying deadline for these offices will be at 12 NOON, THURSDAY, April 5, 2018.
The withdrawal deadline will be 12 NOON THURSDAY, April 12, 2018.
Individuals planning to run as independent candidates for Federal and State offices must submit their qualifying petitions not later than 12 NOON, THURSDAY, April 5, 2018. However, their names will only appear on the November 6, 2018, General Election ballot.
The last day to register to vote in person or by mail postmark for the August 2, 2018, election will be Tuesday, July 3, 2018.

NOTICE TO ELDERLY VOTERS OR VOTERS WITH DISABILITIES

Any elderly voter (age 60 or older) or voter with a disability whose polling place is inaccessible may vote early, by absentee ballot, or at the election commission office on Election Day (TCA 2-3-109 (e) (1)).

If voters choose to vote at the election commission office on Election Day, they must submit an affidavit to the election commission office no later than Saturday, April 20, 2018, stating that their designated polling place is not accessible. PHOTO ID REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL VOTERS

Tennessee state law requires all voters voting in person to present a federal or a State of Tennessee-issued photo identification containing the voter’s name and photograph.
